The hollow clay slab (also called hourdis ) is an artificially produced brick made of fired clay . The designation and use of hollow clay panels is regulated in DIN 278 .

features

The hollow clay slab can be used in a variety of ways, ranging from installation in lightweight partition walls and in hourdis ceilings to plaster supports between rafters . They are seldom used to build tiled stoves or wall heating .

The hollow clay plate has a square shape and has hollow spaces in the longitudinal direction. The ends on both sides can be bevelled at a 60 ° angle. Due to the cavities in the plate, the brick has almost no sound and heat insulating properties.

The standard distinguishes between the following designations:

Short name Usage Usage examples
HD H ohlziegel in D corners Ceiling insert between ceiling beams or rafters
HV H ohlziegel for V erbundtafeln Precast walls
HW H ohlziegel for W andtafeln Precast walls
HT H ohlziegel for light T partition walls Partition walls without sound or thermal insulation requirements
