history
The first bivouac box with the name Dr.-Obersteiner-Biwak was built in 1948 and inaugurated on September 18, 1949. The hut was named after Ludwig Obersteiner , who died of an illness on July 12, 1946.
In 1992 the bivouac box was replaced and was given the name Toni-Adam-Dr.-Obersteiner-Bivouac in order to also commemorate the Grimmingen pioneer Toni Adam, who died in an accident on November 24, 1989 at the age of 75 while descending the heavenly ladder.
