Toni Rosenberg (born May 31, 1988 in Bad Muskau ) is a German billiard player in the discipline of 5-cone billiards .

Life

Toni Rosenberg grew up in Quolsdorf and attended elementary school in Hähnichen and middle school in Rietschen . After graduating from secondary school, he completed training in the public service, where he also began to work.

He has been married to Lusia Rosenberg (née Kapale) since 2012. Both live in Freiberg .

Athletic career

Toni Rosenberg came to billiards at the age of 9 through his father. He started with the regionally widespread discipline of nine-pin billiards at LSV 1951 Spree and at the age of 10 moved to ASV “Vorwärts” Rothenburg - one of the most successful clubs in Germany (related to the education of children and young people) in bowling billiards. He himself describes this change as the “cornerstone of his billiards career”.

In the following years he was able to win numerous regional and national junior titles in this discipline.

International success

After his season in the junior division, Rosenberg made it to the top German in the adult division. In his early 20s he was a permanent member of the German national team. His first big success was also the biggest success for Germany in 5-cone billiards to date: He won the 2011 European team championship with the German national team (3-0 in the final against series winner Italy). In 2018 he was able to win this title again with the German national team (in the final against France 3-0).

There are also other silver and bronze medals at European team championships.

At the 2017 World Cup in Argentina, Rosenberg reached the quarter-finals, making his international breakthrough as a single player for the first time. He defeated players like Gustavo Longo (Argentina) in the round of 16 with 4: 3 and the reigning world and European champion Matteo Gualemi from Italy in the last 16 with 4: 1.

The following year, he became the first German player to win an international tournament after defeating Matteo Gualemi (Italy) 3-0 in the semifinals.
