Tonkin pipe
A tonkin cane is a bamboo cane made from the bamboo species Arundinaria amabilis .
This type of bamboo, up to 12 meters high, grows mainly in the southern Chinese regions of Guangxi and Guangdong and in the northern Vietnamese region of Tonkin . It is characterized by particularly high stability with a relatively high flexural strength and low weight.
Tonkin pipes are used in very different areas, for example for the production of fishing rods or kites , for the production of panpipes or bagpipes and, because of their high resistance to rot, for aquarium decoration. In floristry and horticulture , the combination of flexural stability and high resistance to aging is of great benefit.
