Tony Christopher, Baron Christopher

Anthony Martin Grosvenor Christopher, Baron Christopher CBE , FRSA (born April 25, 1925 ) is a British businessman, politician ( Labor Party ) and a member of the House of Lords .

Christopher began his career in finance in 1957 , most recently as Secretary General . Between 1974 and 1980 he was a member of the Tax Reform Committee, and in 1988/89 he was President of the Trades Union Congress . From 1983 to 2007 Christopher was a member of the International Confederation of Free Trades Unions . In 1984 he was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire . In 1998 he was promoted to Life Peer Baron Christopher , of Leckhampton in the County of Gloucestershire . In the House of Lords he was a member of the Medical Council and the Examination Commission between 1989 and 1994 , and then of the Broadcasting Complaints Commission until 1997. Christopher works as a political and PR consultant. He is married to Adela Joy Thompson.
