Tony Nicklinson

Tony Nicklinson (* 1953 or 1954; † August 20, 2012 ) was a British man suffering from locked-in syndrome . The civil engineer fell ill as a result of a stroke he suffered in 2005 . The High Court in London ruled in 2012 that Nicklinson not entitled to medical euthanasia have. The judgment and the ensuing debate attracted international attention. Nicklinson died six days after the verdict at his Wiltshire home of complications from pneumonia and refusal to eat.
