Top dressing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a top dressing refers to the regular dispensing small quantities of sand (0.5-2.0  l / ) to short-mowed lawn. This operation is often performed on golf greens to improve playing characteristics. A sand similar to that used in the turf base layer should be used as top dress material ( grain size 0.1 to 1.0 mm).

When dry, top dressing sand is swept into the sward with a brush. The sand must be weed-free . Therefore it is stored temporarily in a hall to protect it from rain and weeds.
