Toposa (ethnic group)

The Toposa are an ethnic group in South Sudan in the state of Sharq al-Istiwa'iyya (Eastern Equatoria), mainly in the Kapoita area . Their language, a Nilotic language , is also called Toposa and belongs to the Teso-Turkana languages . Many of the Toposa are Christians. Their total number is around 100,000, according to other sources 700,000–750,000. The Toposa live semi-nomadically from cattle breeding, especially cattle.
