Peat barge is a name for a barge that was used as a traditional work boat, especially in moorland areas . It was used, for example, to transport peat as part of peat extraction and peat use .

Different types of peat barges have been developed depending on the country and region. One differentiates, for example, in northern Germany :

• Peat barge (Teufelsmoor)
• Peat barge (Steinhude)
