The building has a floor area of 10.54 m × 5.41 m. It was probably largely rebuilt in the first half of the 19th century. After a fire in 1956, it was restored four years later. Torthorwald Cruck Cottage is located on a side road near the center of the small village of Torthorwald. The approximately 66 cm thick masonry of the cottage consists of quarry stone and is limed. Two deep, four-part lattice windows flank the entrance door on the south-western front. Another door is on the back of the building. Both front sides are equipped with individual windows. The cottage closes with a thatched roof .

Three curved oak struts ( crucks ) span the roof vault. The outer struts are fixed at a distance of 1.78 m from the outer walls and at a distance of 2.74 m from the central strut. The spans vary between 3.96 and 4.19 m depending on the thickness of the masonry. The construction is exposed. Former subdivisions have been removed from the interior.
