The Tour de la Liberté (French for Freedom Tower) is a tower built in 1989 to mark the bicentenary of the French Revolution in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges . The Tour de la Liberté is 36 meters high and the wings are 32 meters wide. The architect Jean-Marie Hennin and metal construction specialist Nicolas Normier designed and built the tower. The tower was initially built in the Jardin des Tuileries in the French capital Paris , but was inaugurated on July 14, 1990 in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges. The builders expressed:

"We dedicate all the zeal and energy used to achieve freedom to those for whom all hope of attainment ceases to be met by the incomprehension and fear of others, the physically and mentally handicapped, asylum seekers and the abandoned."

- Jean-Marie Hennin, Nicolas Normier
