Toyota K series
The Toyota K series was a family of petrol engines that were produced in various stages of development from 1966 to 1998.
They were 4-cylinder, 8-valve OHV engines with an underneath camshaft and bumpers. All K engines had intake and exhaust on the same side. The engine block was made of gray cast iron and the cylinder head was made of light metal. The crankshaft had 5 main bearings.
K
The OHV 1.1 L (1077 cm 3 ) K was manufactured from 1966 to 1969, the KB version with double carburettors from 1968 to 1969. The engine was installed in the Toyota Corolla KE1x.
2K
The OHV 1.0 L (993 cm 3 ) 2K was produced from 1969 to 1988. Its output was 34 kW at 5600 rpm, maximum torque 66 Nm at 4000 rpm. The 2K was used in both the Toyota Publica and the Toyota Starlet KP 60 .
3K
The OHV 1.2 L (1166 cm 3 ) 3K was built from 1969 to 1977. The bore was 75 mm, the stroke 66 mm. In 1969 there was a version with 2 carburettors (3K-B). Other versions such as the 3K-C and the 3K-H were built. The engine was found in the Toyota Corolla , Toyota Starlet KP62 , Daihatsu Charmant and Toyota Kijang models .
4K
The 1.3 L (1290 cm 3 ) 4K was produced from 1978 to 1989. The bore was 75 mm and the stroke was 73 mm. The version up to 1982 produced 45 kW, from 1982 48 kW. The 4K was used in the Toyota Corolla, Starlet KP61, LiteAce and Kijang vehicles as well as in the Daihatsu Charmant .
5K
The 1.5 L (1496 cm 3 ) 5K was manufactured from 1983 to 1991. The output of the 5K-C version (1485 cm 3 , bore 80.5 mm, stroke 73 mm, register carburetor with hand choke) was 48 kW at 4800 rpm, the torque 113 Nm at 3200 rpm. The Toyota Corolla KE74 (Japan version, Station Wagon), Toyota Hi-Ace KR Van, Toyota Lite Ace KM30 Bus and KM36 Van and Toyota Kijang models were equipped with a 5K.
7K
The 1.8 L (1812 cm 3 ) 7K was produced in 1983. The bore was 80.5 mm and the stroke was 87.5 mm. The engine was installed in the Toyota LiteAce KM20 and the Toyota Kijang.
