Carrier frequency signal relay station

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A carrier frequency signal relay station is a device from a power supply company in which a carrier frequency signal from a carrier frequency system on a high-voltage line is converted to a new carrier frequency and amplified, with the signal being extracted and fed via special resonant circuits . Since carrier frequency signals can travel hundreds of kilometers on power lines , such facilities only exist on very long lines.

Today, high-performance fiber optic cables are preferred for communication between distant facilities of energy supply companies.

In the carrier frequency systems of the post office and communications engineering, these functions were often taken over by an amplifier office.
