The HK Lipetsk ( Russian ХК Липецк ) is an ice hockey club founded in 1979 in the Russian city of Lipetsk . The team played in the second-rate Wysschaja Hockey League until 2015 and has been working exclusively with young talent since then .
history
The association was founded in 1979 as Metallurg Lipetsk . Until 1995 the team played in the lower class Soviet leagues . In the 1995/96 season they were promoted to the second-rate Wysschaja Liga , in which the team won the championship title in 1998 and thus rose to the super league. The club spent two seasons in the super league.
From 2000 the HK Lipetsk played again in the Vysschaya League. In 2006 the club withdrew to the Pervaya League . In 2008 he was accepted back into the Wysschaya League . In the summer of 2010 this league was reformed and HK Lipetsk initially received a license for the new Wysschaja Hockey League , could not provide funding for the 2010/11 season and had to relegate to the third division, the Pervaya League. In 2013, however, the club was again included in the Wysschaja Hockey League.
As of February 2014, the club could no longer pay its players and employees salaries and withdrew from professional play after the 2014/15 season in order to at least ensure the survival of the youth teams.
