The Tramplin Olimpijskiy was a ski jumping hill of the category K 80 in the Ukrainian capital Kiev .

The ski jumping hill, covered with plastic matting, was located directly next to the Kiev Olympic Stadium , where the 1980 Olympic soccer tournament was played.

history

The ski jump was built in 1968 in the Ukrainian capital. Eleven years later the ski jump was rebuilt for the first and last time. The Kiev ski jump was already very dilapidated 25 years after the last renovation and had to be demolished in 2003. A new building for Tramplin Olimpijskiy is being considered.

architecture

The special thing about the Tramplin Olimpijskiy was its inrun tower. This hung freely in the air and was only supported by steel cables attached to a post. This ski jumping hill construction was probably unique worldwide.
