Trancoso is a district of Porto Seguro in the state of Bahia in Brazil .

history

The place is located in the south of Bahia and has its origin in a settlement of Jesuits with the church of São João Batista dos Índios , which was built in 1586. The place was rediscovered by hippies in the 1970s . At that time the place still consisted of an avenue with houses on each side of the historic church in the background - and an unobstructed view of the sea.

Today this square is the historical center of Trancoso. With the beginning of tourism in the 1990s, the construction of infrastructure, roads and new houses steadily increased, so that Trancoso has now grown into a larger town on the coast.
