Transaction Processing Facility ( TPF ) is a real-time operating system for the IBM mainframes of the System / 360 and System z families.

TPF was developed from the Airline Control Program (ACP) of IBM and several North American and European airlines. In 1979, IBM introduced the operating system to replace the now obsolete ACP. Today's customers include Amadeus , Visa and Qantas Airways .

The operating system is used in the area of high availability , where systems have to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Version 1.1 of zTPF has been up-to-date since September 15, 2005 .
