Transect (urban planning)

The urban-to-rural transect is an urban planning model by Andrés Duany . A transect defines a zone in which a transition from scattered rural houses to a densely populated area is made. Each zone reproduces the transition to an urban city center anew. The Duanies transect is an important element of New Urbanism .
