Federal transitional parliament

The Federal Transitional Parliament (often also Transitional Federal Parliament or Federal Transitional Parliament , Somali : Golaha Shacabka Federaalka Kumeelgaarka ee Jamhuuriyada Soomaaliya or Baarlamaanka Federaalka Soomaaliya ) was Somalia's internationally recognized transitional parliament until mid-2012 .

It stood as a legislative power alongside the transitional government of Somalia .

The federal transitional parliament was formed in 2004 during peace negotiations in neighboring Kenya to the south . In 2005 it was able to move its headquarters to Baidoa in Somalia.

After the Islamist al-Shabaab conquered Baidoa in early 2009 , numerous members of parliament fled the country, so that the interim parliament was no longer quorate.

It consisted of 450 members representing various clans and armed groups as well as parts of the Islamist opposition and the diaspora.

In August 2012, the federal transitional parliament was replaced by the federal parliament .
