Transverter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A transverter is a radio technology device between the radio and antenna that changes the transmission and reception frequency. The term is composed of transceiver and converter . With such a transverter, a radio device can be expanded by a frequency band without having to purchase a new radio device. It is mainly used in amateur radio technology.

In power electronics, a transverter is also a device that can generate a different (usually higher) direct voltage from a direct voltage . It contains an inverter and a transformer with subsequent rectification. Examples are battery-operated electronic flash units or DC-DC converters with electrical isolation .
