Harness ropes

Trapeze ropes are part of the windsurf rig and are mounted on the boom spar at the point of the sail pressure point. In combination with a trapeze , the effort required for windsurfing can be reduced considerably.

function

The harness hanging from the boom spar in loops down and offer the windsurfers the opportunity as needed with his harness hook into the rope hook. This shifts the sailing pressure away from the hands and onto the body, so that your own body weight is used to build up even greater sailing pressure and thus for higher speeds. In this way, the arm muscles are also relieved.

processing

Trapeze ropes available on the market essentially consist of a 6–8 mm thick polyester rope, which is pre-stretched and is therefore resistant to stretching. This rope is encased in a polyurethane tube that keeps the rope in shape, protects it from abrasion and offers a certain slip resistance for the harness hook. The fastening loops are often equipped with a Velcro fastener for better fixation on the boom.

length

The optimal length of the harness line depends on many factors, for example the sail size, sail class, harness type, skill level, wind conditions and, last but not least, personal preferences. For this reason, in addition to the fixed-length harness ropes (also known as "fixed harness ropes"), there are also length-adjustable ropes. Here the length can be varied either using a knot or a metal clip with a clamp. The advantage of the metal clip solution is that it can be adjusted while surfing.
