Snowmass Trappist Abbey
The Trappist Snowmass Abbey (Latin Abbatia Beatae Mariae de Sancto Benedicto ; English Saint Benedict's Abbey ) has been an American monastery in Snowmass, Pitkin County , Colorado , Archdiocese of Denver since 1956 .
history
The Trappist Abbey Spencer founded in 1956 near Aspen (Colorado) , 150 kilometers southwest of Denver, in the Rocky Mountains (at an altitude of 2,400 meters) the monastery of St. Benedict's Abbey , which was elevated to an abbey in 1969 . Well-known authors among the monks are Thomas Keating and William Meninger (* 1930).
