Trash City Record was a record label for punk music and independent in Berlin .

history

It was founded in 1989 by Arne Gesemann from Rotenburg an der Fulda and girlfriend (now wife) Gundula Schneider and existed until 1995. The label was based in Berlin.

The label name pays homage to Joe Strummer from the Clash who released his solo single Trash City Epic Records (EAS 01103) in 1988.

The label broke up because both started with record companies, Arne Gesemann with Vielklang and Gundula Schneider with City Slang, later Virgin / Lables / Emi. Gesemann started the sub-label Noisolution in 1995 under the umbrella of Vielklang, which he has been running independently since 2005 and expanded its content with the Edition Noisotrax publisher and a promotion agency.

Trash City Records organized two “What a Trashmash” festivals in the Tommy-Weisbecker-Haus in Berlin, each of which was accompanied by an EP.

The first two releases of DOG FOOD FIVE from Kassel appeared on this label , they knew each other from the past and had already recorded the sampler Not Great For Great Men (Weckewerk 002) together in 1988 , Arne under The Thrilling Tortures and the members by DF5 under Haunet Henschel and Sigmund Freud Experiment .
