Trauma network DGU

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Traumanetzwerk DGU ( spelling : TraumaNetzwerk DGU ) of the German Society for Trauma Surgery (DGU) aims to create nationwide networks between competent institutions for the interdisciplinary care of seriously injured people . The Trauma Network DGU is a registered trademark and consists of individual regional trauma networks.

History of origin

For Germany, the annual number of seriously injured patients ( Injury Severity Score ≥ 16) is around 33,000 to 35,000. In 2006, the German Society for Trauma Surgery (DGU) launched the DGU Trauma Network project to ensure nationwide standardization, ensure the quality of treatment and optimize the treatment of seriously injured patients in Germany.

Facilities

The standards for equipment, organization and quality assurance of interdisciplinary care for the severely injured are described in accordance with scientific evidence in the DGU's “White Book of Care for the Seriously Injured” . The “White Book of Care for the Seriously Injured” was comprehensively revised in 2012.

The cooperating in a regional trauma network hospitals ( nationwide , regional and local trauma centers have to) by certain features ( emergency room , helipad , computed tomography , emergency surgery , intensive care unit , blood bank necessary, etc.) as well as the proven specialist quality and 24-hour availability of expertise in the care of seriously injured people in the relevant areas (including trauma surgery department, emergency room team, etc.). In addition to the quality of structure, results and processes in the care of the seriously injured in each individual clinic, close organizational and professional cooperation between the clinics in a regional trauma network is required (regulation of the transferring and relocation of the seriously injured, joint quality circles, defined communication with emergency services and participants Clinics).

Compliance with the required structural, personnel and equipment quality features is ensured by means of so-called audits (on-site reviews) or re-audits (after 3 years) of the clinics and a final certification of the respective regional trauma network by an independent qualified certification company (DIOcert). The data and information from around 800 (accident) surgical clinics and departments are stored in the data system of the DGU trauma network (as of 2014). As of 2017, 649 clinics from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are organized in 54 networks. With the exception of a few regions, the Federal Republic is covered by regional trauma networks. All treatment-relevant data from seriously injured patients are collected in the TraumaRegister DGU for scientific evaluation and documentation of the quality of treatment .

Trauma register DGU

The result and quality assessment in trauma network DGU is the trauma registry saved. In a reduced form for quality management, 40 parameters per patient are recorded to map the quality of care (in the original version, significantly more than 200 parameters are recorded for scientific purposes). The data is recorded online. After central evaluation in benchmarking , it is made available online to the individual clinics and trauma networks for advice and optimization of their treatment quality (accessible from the clinic at any time).
