Dream couple

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Traumpaar was a Monday evening quiz show on Swiss television from 1987 to 1993. It was first broadcast on August 31, 1987 and the last time on December 20, 1993. It was pre-produced and broadcast every other Monday evening. The producer and director of the show was Marco Stöcklin. Ruedi Oser directed. She was editorially supported and moderated by Raymond Fein .

The aim of the program was primarily entertainment. But it should also encourage viewers to talk to each other more often. Likewise, CHF 500 per shipment was donated for charitable purposes.

Shipment concept

Three couples played for the so-called “dream pair needle”. Prominent couples were also often there. The backdrop was a jungle and was reminiscent of the Garden of Eden . On the right side of the studio there was a bench with video desks for the three women and on the left side of the studio there was a bench with video desks for the three men. The partners sat facing each other. The moderator was standing in the middle of the couple in front of a rainbow.

Game rounds

In the game round, either the women or the men were asked about various topics. However, the partners first had to assess whether the other person was able to answer the question correctly. To do this, they either took out the mascot "Schnüfeli" if they believed that their partner could answer it correctly, or instead left it under the desk. There were also association games. Similar to the Rorschach test, three spontaneous associations to any image had to be named. Finally, it was determined whether the partner's answers were the same as those of the partner or vice versa.

Awarding

As prizes, the couples were allowed to pick artificial fruits from a tree in the scenery. The runners-up picked one pear from each partner. Each pear was given a weight, and they won the sum in silver. The pair that came first was similarly rewarded. They picked apples, and the weights indicated the price in gold and the "dream pair pins" (pins). In the special case that both partners picked apples with the same weight, they were given a trip to a “dream island”.

Mascot "Schnüfeli"

The mascot "Schnüfeli" was a pink-red soft toy with an over-long trunk, a mixture of elephant (trunk), giraffe (horns) and kangaroo (legs). It was used during the broadcast for the question and answer session, as a consolation prize for the third best couple and as a prize for the viewer question sent in.

Humorous counterpoint

As a humorous counterpoint, skits by the couple “Adam and Eva Chifler” ( Walter Andreas Müller and Ursula Schaeppi ) were shown between the round of questions . «Chifle» is the dialect term for «arguing».

reception

The show achieved an average audience rate of one million viewers, making it one of the most successful programs on Swiss television. The fourth show even reached 1.5 million viewers.

At the TV gala Tell 87 , the dream couple was voted the most popular German-speaking Swiss TV show in a telephone vote.
