Youth culture in Lucerne

In the context of a politically turbulent period, the Wärchhof youth and leisure area (Lucerne dialect for “ Werkhof ”) was opened in a former civil defense building in 1978 , which was run by the Youth and Leisure Association through a service contract from the city of Lucerne. The sponsoring association dissolved in 2001, and in 2003 the Wärchhof had to give way to a residential complex. Also in 2001, however, the city council decided to take over the operation of a central youth culture center, and the Lucerne city parliament decided on the new building a year later. The greenhouse was then built in the Tribschen district from April 2003 to April 2004 and opened on May 1, 2004.
