Trem da Serra da Mantiqueira
The Trem da Serra da Mantiqueira is a tourist train operated by ABPF (Regional Sul de Minas). The route was inaugurated in 1881 by Emperor Pedro II . The train starts at the station in the mountain village of Passa Quatro in the state of Minas Gerais , Brazil and ends at Coronel Fulgêncio station in the Serra da Mantiqueira mountains . The historic train is operated by a steam locomotive and only runs on weekends. Otherwise, special trains are also used when required during the holiday season. The steam locomotive 322 was manufactured by Baldwin in the USA in 1925 .
The departure station of Passa Quatro is at km 34 of the former line of The Minas and Rio Railway Company. There is also an exhibition of historical photographs in the station hall in the station building. After departure, the train first goes to Manacá station at km 30, where the mountain route begins. The terminal station Coronel Fugêncio is at km 25 at an altitude of 1085 m above sea level. M. Here there is an old railway tunnel that can be walked through as well as another photo exhibition.
