Oath of allegiance
An oath of allegiance or allegiance is an oath to a person or organization that swears allegiance to them.
Examples of oaths of loyalty:
- the oath of loyalty contained in the feudal oath
- the oath of allegiance as a loyalty expressions of soldiers
- formerly the MP's oath
- 1780: oath of allegiance to the civil constitution by the French clergy
- 1933: Oath of the German Roman Catholic local bishops before taking office in accordance with the Reich Concordat to the government
- the Baiʿa in the realm of Islam
