Trichogram

A medical examination method is referred to as a trichogram , which determines the current hair root status z. B. should determine hair loss ( effluvium ) or the hair distribution pattern.

In order to perform a trichogram, the hair should not be colored or similar two weeks beforehand , and the last hair wash should be at least five days ago. About 50-70 hairs are then pulled out ( epilated ) over the forehead with a clamp .

The microscopic examination provides information about the current growth behavior of the hair, hair shaft and hair roots can be assessed. Normally about 80% of the hair is in the growth phase (anagen hair), about 1% in the transition phase (catagen hair) and about 15–20% in the resting phase (telogen hair).

The trichogram often means that a sample biopsy can be dispensed with.
