Triel of a cow

In the anatomy of ruminants, a triel (lat. Palear ) or dewlap is a central fold in the neck that extends from the end of the neck to the front of the chest. It belongs to the skin folds ( plicae cutis ) and is characterized by an abundant subcutaneous tissue.

The Triel is well suited for subcutaneous injections . In animals on high pastures, a tri-edema can occur due to the lack of oxygen .
