The Trier Boys 'Choir is a boys' choir from Trier. It was founded in 1962 by brother Basilius Wollscheid. The Boys' Choir is the oldest concert choir in Trier that still exists today .
In the 50-year history of the choir, the Trier Boys' Choir has undertaken concert tours a. a. to England (St. Martin-in-the-Fields), France (Notre-Dame), Luxembourg and Switzerland. Among the special highlights are the appearances in Rome as part of the beatification of the founder of the order of the Brothers of Mercy by Maria Hilf , Peter Friedhofen . Here the Trier Boys' Choir organized services in St. Peter's Basilica , in the Lateran, in Santa Maria Maggiore and in the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. More than 500 listeners come to the traditional Christmas concert on December 26th in the parish church of Trier-Heiligkreuz. The Trier Boys' Choir still see the musical organization of church services in the hospital church of the Brothers of Mercy in Trier as their most important task.
The artistic profile of the choir is rounded off by its participation in various opera productions at the Stadttheater Trier ( Magic Flute , Tannhäuser , Enoch Arden, etc.) as well as by its own performance of singspiele such as Mozart's Bastien and Bastienne or Georg Philipp Telemann's cantata Der Schulmeister . In addition, the Trier Boys' Choir has now recorded more than 10 recordings.
For some years now, the male choir of the Trier Boys' Choir has also performed regularly alone at concerts, occasionally accompanied by members of the Trier Philharmonic Orchestra. One of the men's choir's greatest successes was its victory in the Rhineland-Palatinate state choir competition in 2005 in the male chamber choir category and the participation in the 2006 German choir competition in Kiel, which was rated “very good”.
For holidays and rehearsals, the choir in the Eifel has its own holiday home with a football field, table tennis hall and much more.
In June 2007, Stefan Frenster succeeded brother Basilius Wollscheid as musical director. Since March 2010, the choir has been in the hands of Volker Krebs, who is also regional cantor at the St. Paulin Basilica in Trier.
The Trier Boys 'Choir has been supported by the Trier Boys' Choir Association since May 2007

repertoire
The repertoire of the Trier Boys' Choir ranges from works from the Palestrina period to contemporary music, with sacred a cappella literature naturally being the focus. In the large choir concerts with orchestra, works from the 18th and 19th centuries are primarily performed. The Boys' Choir attach great importance to the fact that, in addition to "classics", new discoveries or rarely performed works expand the core repertoire (e.g. Christmas hymn (Bruch), Christmas cantilena (Reichardt)).
