The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is the police force of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago .

The police emerged from the British colonial police after the islands became independent in 1962. In 1965, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service was established with the Police Service Act . In 1973 the TTPS was subordinated to the Ministry of National Security, where the new office of the Commissioner of Police was created to head the TTPS.

In 2014, over 6,000 police officers were employed by the TTPS. The head office is located in the Downtown district of the capital Port of Spain .
