Leica Trinovid 8 × 20 BC

Trinovid the protected model name is a roof prism - Binoculars series the company Leitz (Optics) (today Leica Camera ).

The Trinovid binoculars were introduced in 1963 and used special penta prisms (so called Uppendahl-roof prism systems ). They comprised both larger and smaller (compact) binoculars and were initially practically unsuitable for spectacle wearers. They were increasingly improved and changed to Schmidt-Pechan prisms around 1990 , with which a new series came onto the market. These binoculars, which had been on the market for high-quality compact binoculars for a long time, had the optical key figures 8 × 20 and 10 × 25. In 2004 they were supplemented by the Ultravid series with higher quality glass, better coating and a complete recalculation of the optical image quality, but are still available.
