Trivial music

Trivial music is a derogatory term for music that is considered to be of little value compared to “art music”. It corresponds roughly to the concept of trivial literature .

The characteristics of music known as trivial music are the small number of musical means, for example through stereotypical melodies and harmonies . The listeners are often members of a specific group (see F-music ; functional music). Trivial music should mostly entertain and never deal critically with a topic. So it belongs in the field of popular music .
