It was built by King on May 25, 1985 Olav V opened. Before that, there was a concert in Grieg's Villa Troldhaugen, with the audience often being placed in front of the house. The development of noise after the construction of the new access road N580 to Bergen Airport made a new venue necessary. A suitable location was found in the valley above Edvard Grieg's composers' hut close to Nordåsvannet . The architectural solution for two hundred listeners in a unique ambience is convincing, also with good acoustics. Up to three hundred concerts are given every year.
