Troy (song)

Troy is a song by Sinéad O'Connor that was released in 1987 as the debut single from her first album The Lion and the Cobra . Referred to in the title and lyrics, destroyed ancient city of Troy (English: Troy ) can be interpreted as a metaphor for the angry complained in song the end of a love affair. O'Connor alludes to the poem No Second Troy by William Butler Yeats , which she partially quotes verbatim: "Being what you are, there is no other Troy for you to burn" (O'Connor) / "Why, what could she have done being what she is? Was there another Troy for her to burn? " (Yeats).

In 2002 the CD "Troy (The Phoenix from the Flame)" was released, which contained 10 different remixes of the piece by other artists.
