The True Corporation is a Thai telecom provider based in Bangkok . It is the leading provider of cable TV and Internet in Thailand and the second largest provider of mobile networks. The True Corporation is majority-owned by the Charoen-Pokphand Group , an agro-food conglomerate, founded in 1921 by Chinese immigrants and one of the largest companies in Asia. The True Corporation was founded on November 13, 1990 after the Charoen-Pokphand Group won a tender from the Thai government to install and operate 2.6 million landline connections in and around Bangkok with a 25-year license. The True Corporation originally operated as TelecomAsia . Since the group lacked the necessary know-how, they entered into a cooperation with Verizon . The system supplier was the German company Siemens , which Siemens Ltd. in Bangkok for this order . Thailand and began producing components for their EWSD system in Rayong . In 2001 she got into the mobile phone business, initially in cooperation with Orange . In 2004 the name was changed to True Corporation. In 2005 she took over the Thai cable television provider UBC . In 2017, it handed over the 2.6 million lines to the Telephone Organization of Thailand, TOT for short, in accordance with the contract . However, it continues to offer landline connections in conjunction with the TOT. With a turnover of 124 billion baht (around 4 billion euros) (2016) and a staff of 23,000 employees, it is one of the largest telecommunications providers in Asia. The company's shares are traded on the Bangkok Stock Exchange (SET).
