Trusted Execution Technology ( TXT ) formerly known as LaGrande Technology , is a key component of Intel's "Safer Computing" initiative. TXT provides the hardware-technical requirements for a trustworthy environment .

TXT is an Intel name for an extension that is integrated into various newer CPUs from Intel. TXT is based on a concept of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG, formerly TCPA ), but goes far beyond that. TXT should not allow any program, no matter how highly privileged, to access data or code from another application. A TPM chip is also required on the motherboard for this.
