Trypanosomiasis vaccine

A trypanosomiasis vaccine (synonymous trypanosomal vaccine , trypanosomal vaccine ) is a vaccine against trypanosomes , the causative agents of Chagas disease or sleeping sickness .

Trypanosomes pathogenic to humans include the causative agent of Chagas disease, Trypanosoma cruzi , and the causative agent of sleeping sickness, Trypanosoma brucei . In 1912, Blanchard first described immunity against re- infection with T. cruzi . So far, no vaccine against trypanosomes has been approved.
