The Česká fyzikální společnost ( ČFS ), German Czech physical society , unites scientific employees from the fields of physics. The ČFS is one of the four sections of the Jednota českých matematiků a fyziků ( Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists ) and a member of the European Physical Society .
The Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists , founded in 1862, split its activities into four specialized sections at the end of the 1960s, one of which was the Fyzikální vědecká sekce FVS (Physical Scientific Section) in 1968. On January 1, 2003, the name was changed to Česká fyzikální společnost in accordance with international custom.
The goals include above all
- Research in all areas of physics
- Popularization of physics
- Strengthening the image of physics in society
- Support of education in the field of physics, especially in universities
This project is supported by more than 20 specialist departments:
- Dielectric
- Energetics
- geophysics
- magnetism
- Mathematical physics
- Low temperatures
- Plasma physics
and other.
The ČSF works closely with the corresponding and simultaneously created Slovak Slovenská fyzikálna spoločnosť (SFS) as well as with the sister organizations abroad.
The company is responsible for the journal Československý časopis pro fyziku (Czechoslovak Physics Journal), which has the subtitle "Czech and Slovak Journal" because it is a joint project of the Czech and Slovak Physical Societies. It was created in 1951 through a separation from the journal Časopis pro pěstování mathematiky a fysiky , which has been published since 1872.
