The Tschehel-Dochtaran-Mausoleum is a historical mausoleum in the Iranian city of Kashan . The mausoleum is located west of Imamzade Soltan Mir Ahmad . The mausoleum dates from the Ilkhan era and its high, simple, unadorned dome is the hallmark of the architecture of the Ilkhan era.
etymology
Tschehel Dochtaran means in Persian: forty girls . The origin of this name is unclear. The number forty is used as an exaggeration in Iranian culture. Some residents of the area believe that the building was a mosque or school for women and, like the Tschehel-Dochtaran minaret , was built in 1112.
