Economy and Infrastructure

Tsogttsetsii UHG Airport

The economic importance of this area is expressed in the hard coal opencast mining area Tawan Tolgoi , which is located 15 km southwest of the center of the district.

In connection with the UHG project in Tawan Tolgoi, the private company Energy Resources built an airport (UHG) north of the Sum Center in 2009, which Mongolian airlines use several times a week in addition to transporting UHG employees. A gravel road leads to the airport, while until now the coal extracted has been brought on sand tracks with heavy trucks through the Gobi desert to the Chinese border.
