Tube Lines Ltd , based in London, is a subsidiary of Transport for London (TfL), which is responsible for the maintenance, replacement and renewal of the technical infrastructure on three lines of the London Underground . This includes rails, trains, signals, supply lines and stations.

background

Since January 2003, London Underground was partially privatized in the form of a Public Private Partnership (PPP). The maintenance of the infrastructure was to be carried out by private companies, while the network and material remained in the possession of and operated by Transport for London . As part of a tender, Tube Lines, a subsidiary of Amey ( Ferrovial ), Bechtel and Jarvis (which left in 2005), received a contract for a period of 30 years for the maintenance of the Jubilee Line , Northern Line and Piccadilly Line . The other lines were given to Metronet .

After Metronet became insolvent in 2007 and Tube Lines also saw strong cost increases, it was decided to discontinue the PPP model. In 2010, Transport for London therefore took over the shares from Bechtel and Amey, and TfL is once again responsible for all maintenance.
