Dutch sloep

A tugboat is a small, open motorboat, also known as a barge , which was previously used as a small workboat in harbors and canals. Normally it has a built-in machine and the hull shape is designed as a pointed gate . In the Netherlands these boats are called sloep , derived from sloop .

The name Tuckerboot is derived from the sound of the bubbling of the engine cooling water, which is pumped out through the exhaust pipe when driving .

In the dinghy port of Hamburg-Blankenese ( 53 ° 33 ′ 19 ″  N , 9 ° 48 ′ 43 ″  E ) there is a large group of chug boats whose owners used their boats in earlier years for shopping in the city. Some are currently used as excursion boats and some are equipped with fuel cells as so-called H2 yachts .
