The windows of the chapel, built between 1760 and 1770 on the foundation walls of a 13th century church, were designed by the Russian-French artist Marc Chagall. The works of art donated the noble member of the House of Commons Sir Henry d' Avigdor -Goldsmid in memory of his daughter Sarah, who died on September 19, 1963 shortly before her 21st birthday in a tragic sailing accident off the coast of Rye .

The east window, completed in 1967, is characterized by the depiction of deep blue air and water vortices. The upper part is dominated by the depiction of Christ crucified. In the middle part of the window you can see the mother Rosemary d'Avigdor-Goldsmid with her two little daughters in her arms, to the right Sarah is fighting for her life in the blue waters, only to then - in the bottom part of the picture - sink peacefully into the sea. In the lower right corner of this impressive window in the chancel you can finally see the grieving mother.

The remaining 11 windows were designed by Chagall over the course of the next 15 years, the last ones were not installed until 1985.
