Tujes
The Tujes or Tujesok ( Russian Туес / Туесок ) are cylindrical storage containers made from birch bark and come from Russia with a tightly fitting lid. The top layer of birch bark is used for production. This is characterized by the fact that it has an insulating effect against germs , heat and moisture. In addition, the material is light and easy to work with. Tujes have been used to store food such as beer , honey , kvass , fish and berries since ancient times . They served both as travel and transport containers as well as containers for loading of cucumbers and mushrooms . With industrialization, tujes were replaced by other storage containers. Today tujes are mainly sold in Russian souvenir shops.
