Tullos Hill is a hill in the Scottish city ​​of Aberdeen . It is located in the southern foothills of the city on the right bank of the Dee . The 83 meter high hill ends in Cape Greg Ness , which borders Nigg Bay in the south.

Baron's Cairn on Tullos Hill

On Tullos Hill there is a burial ground made up of five Bronze Age stone mounds . They are individually protected as Scheduled Monuments .

Near the top of the hill is the Baron's Cairn ( 57 ° 7 ′ 27.2 ″  N , 2 ° 4 ′ 18.2 ″  W ). The four other Cairns are laid out on the slopes, with the Crab's Cairn in the east ( 57 ° 7 ′ 10.4 ″  N , 2 ° 4 ′ 52.3 ″  W ), the Tullos Cairn in the north ( 57 ° 7 ′ 40 ″  N , 2 ° 4 ′ 9.9 ″  W ) as well as the Cat Cairn ( 57 ° 7 ′ 28.4 ″  N , 2 ° 3 ′ 44.3 ″  W ) and the Loirston Country Park Cairn ( 57 ° 7 ′ 14, 9 ″  N , 2 ° 4 ′ 42.3 ″  W ) in the southwest. The Crab's Cairn is already on the slopes of the much flatter, adjacent Doonies Hill .

The cairns have a diameter of up to 20 m and are up to 2.5 m high. They represent an important type of grave, which at the beginning of the 2nd millennium BC Must have been impressively visible from the sea. Nothing is known of the burials that covered the Cairns.

The remains of a POW camp from WWII can be found on Tullos Hill .
