Tumuli de la Forêt de Soignes

The two tumuli in the Forêt de Soignes (also Zoniënwoud - dt. Sonienwald ) are located in the 11 hectare forest, southwest of Watermael-Boitsfort / Watermaal-Bosvoorde , north of Waterloo in the Brussels-Capital region in Belgium .

The tumuli of the Sonian Forest are two closely adjacent burial mounds on the "Chemin des Tumuli" and the "Chemin des Deux Montagnes" (paths). While the southern one is a long hill, the northern one is a round hill. The hills of uncertain origin and function, which were examined twice during the 19th century and only brought about charcoal finds, are located near a Neolithic settlement in Watermael-Boitsfort.

In the Sonian Forest are the "Monument Aux Forestiers (Uccle)" and the remains of the Abbey of Groenendaal. The priestly church was demolished in the 18th century, but some of the walls, rooms and vaults were preserved.
