action

Barry, Desmond, Rafe and Kurt have been friends since childhood. However, the friendship of the now grown-ups is being put to the test more and more, as the kind-hearted and carefree Barry does not seem to have any shame and steps from one faux pas to the next. At the funeral of Rafe's father, for example, he shared intimate details from her youth as well as the deceased's numerous affairs. He makes lewd jokes to Desmond's boss about his daughter, causing Desmond to lose his job. When Barry finally ensures with another embarrassment that Kurt's planned engagement to Camille breaks and she gives him the pass, the three afflicted see only one way out: the clingy Barry should finally have a girlfriend who will distract him and so from them keep away. This proves to be difficult at first, because Barry manages with his loose mouth to drive away the women on each of the organized dates within a very short time. Finally, by chance, he meets Melanie, who is similarly carefree and open-hearted and therefore has the same problems when looking for a partner. The two soul mates fall in love and become a couple.

Barry's friends organize a weekend together at Kurt's weekend house in the country to meet Melanie. Even during the journey in the van , it becomes clear that Melanie is also stepping into every faux pas that presents itself. When in the evening Barry lets the weekend house go up in flames through candles in the bed during the planned night of love with Melanie, the three friends' collars burst. They tell Barry and Melanie their blunt opinion and exclude them from the circle of friends. Barry is upset and breaks up with Melanie because he blames her for it.

While Barry falls into depression, Desmond and his wife Rachel grow closer and he finds a new job. The single Rafe has more time for his son again, and Kurt first reconciles with Camille, but then separates from her for good, realizing that Barry was right in his disparaging remarks about her. Nevertheless, the three friends realize that they miss Barry. They talk to him and renew their friendship. Finally, Barry confesses his love to Melanie and makes her a marriage proposal, which she accepts. The film ends with the wedding of Barry and Melanie.

reception

The film magazine Cinema said, “Anyone who likes hearty gags with a high level of external embarrassment” will “have a lot of fun at the Zotenparade with Tyler Labine”. The film service called Crazy About Barry a “comedy of embarrassment and rude jokes that becomes more and more good and conventional as it progresses. A lack of sense of timing and the stereotypical characters give the film the rest. "
