The Tumut hydropower plants are located in one of the largest water dams on earth, the Snowy Mountains system . The three hydropower plants are called Tumut 1, 2 and 3 Power Station . These are three of a total of seven hydropower plants. The three Tumut hydropower plants are located on the Tumut River in New South Wales , Australia .

Stations

Tumut-1 hydropower plant

The hydroelectric power station called Tumut 1 has four turbines for generating electrical energy with an output of 329.6 megawatts . The station was commissioned in 1959 and has a drop height of 292.6 meters . The English Queen visited the building in 1963.

Tumut-2 hydropower plant

The hydroelectric power plant called Tumut 2 was completed in 1962, has four turbines and an output of 286.4 megawatts.

Tumut 3 hydroelectric power station

Tumut 3 has six turbines with an output of 1500 megawatts and is the most powerful. This hydropower plant was completed in 1973 and is able to work as a pumped storage power plant . In July 2009 this hydropower plant was renewed and was temporarily out of order.
